A great first novel from Karen Thompson Walker. I'm also so interested in books dealing with the future and sort of post-apocalyptic type. "The Age of Miracles" follows a 11-year-old girl living in suburban California when suddenly the earth begins to turn slower. At first it's just a mere 45 minutes, but by the end of the book, the earth has slowed by more than 60 hours. An intense book that I finished in less than two days and I absolutely loved every minute of it. The characters were so diverse and changed as the world was slowly ending. It had a bit of everything in it; mystery, crime, romance, suspense. I can't wait to see what else comes from this author.
