The Healing Power of Sugar by C.L. Stone, C.L. Stone

3.0

One of the weaker books in the series. I actually don't mind at all when there's not a lot of plot stuff going on, because I don't believe C L Stone writes decent suspense at all. But there were a lot of wheels spinning and going nowhere, and the general lack of competence of everyone involved is starting to grate.

Also, as a fat middle-aged lady myself, I really, really dislike it when fatness is a sign of villainy in women. The misogyny in these books is always present, but in this one, it felt like a constant poke in the eyeball. I know I can read other books about fat ladies in their thirties finding fulfilment, and these aren't expected to be it, but it's lazy characterization, and it's offensive.

I have one more book, and I suspect that will be enough of the Academy to last me a while!
