Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

5.0

I can't begin to articulate my love for this book! It's definitely one of the best books I've read this year, and Celeste Ng is so incredibly talented I can't stop gushing about how wonderful she is. Little Fires Everywhere weaves a thoughtfully provocative story about motherhood and the intricate bonds between people, especially deep secrets that threaten to tear the surface of a seemingly idyllic demeanor. The writing is intuitive and detailed, making me want to prolong my stay in Shaker Heights, along with the interesting characters. I feel like I really wanted a happy ending for Mia and Pearl, but it goes to show that life isn't all happy endings, and that fires make way for new life.
