We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

3.0

I read this book twice: once for fun and once for class. I enjoyed it a lot more the second time because for some reason, I was just unable to follow the storyline the first time. Once I was able to discuss the book with peers and my professor, I was able to wrap my head around the fact that some confusing parts were only confusing because they were the main character's hallucinations, and I didn't get that the first time around. The plot twist reminded me a lot of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin, which I absolutely loved, hence only 3/5 stars for We Were Liars because it didn't top the Mara Dyer series for me.
