This book perfectly toed the line between real-life and paranormal horror. At first I wasn't sure about the dual plotlines of Robbie seeing ghosts and his sister's quest to get him out of the Reformatory, but the story came together so well and offered just enough time to each plot line. I did find at times that the plot dragged a bit and I found myself wanting to move back to the other plot, but these moments tended to be few and far between. The reveals throughout the book totally caught me off-guard and managed to keep me in suspense the whole time.
