Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall
5.0
Jabari is afraid of jumping off the high dive. Thankfully his dad is there to tell him that fear is okay, but it can't be allowed to control you. What is Jabari to do?
I loved this book. It carries a great message and has a wonderfully whimsical, yet bold, illustration style. After checking this book out from the library and finding that our family loved it, I bought a copy to add to my son's collection.
And it really can't be overstated that books featuring non-white children are not as common as they should be, particularly books that just have them being normal kids. This is another reason why we enjoyed Jabari Jumps so much, because it gives voice to a side of life many children's books neglect.
