I haven't had the chance to read the novel version of The Handmaid's Tale so when I came across the graphic novel version I immediately snatched it up. What immediately came across to me was how immensely creepy the world of Gilead is. In the current social and political climate, it's unnerving to read about this society in the book and think about how we could end up in the same boat if certain politicians remain in power. The fact that the world in this book was the same as ours and some choice chain of events just have to come to pass and suddenly this world could come true. Even as a man I never want to see this kind of world come to pass.
