My Scandalous Viscount by Gaelen Foley
3.0

This was really more of a 2.5 for me.
I enjoyed the start of this despite being a little lost at book #5, and read the 2 thirds of the book quickly in one sitting. BUT the last third and some niggling issues from the first parts made finishing this one hard.
I get the whole trying to recreate accurate historical times behavior thing, but the hero's behavior about putting his wife in line and punishing her like she was an ill behaved dog or toddler, was just not doing it for me.
SpoilerThe guilt he gave her for not being a virgin was the worst, even though he immediately felt bad about it. Specially coming from a male slut, that made his new wife meet many of his past lovers. That he encouraged her to feel bad about having slept with one other man once was just too much.

Also this was like the 3rd book with spies I've read lately and maybe I'm just over England times spies. I didn't care for the whole cheesy brotherhood of warrior bothers thing either.
And the niggling issue, was the under current of the author really trying hard to sell the superiority of the titled men and women in this book . She even used the word Quality with a capital Q (which I know was a thing).
I know I know, things really where like that, it's one thing to acknowledge it, it's another to enjoy characters that don't think their own poo don't smell.

I will probably not continue this series. : /
