This is rightfully a classic. I think everyone should read it. I think it has immense literary value. (I'm not sure if this is considered part of the literary canon, which is a BS concept but like, Hurston needs to be there regardless.) Frankly the only reason I rated this 4 instead of 5 is that it's a slow, almost meandering novel that's mostly about people with little plot, which doesn't jive as well with me on a personal level - but still I phenomenal novel.
