A companion novel to Desperation. It has some of the same characters (though sometimes it's only the name that is the same) and the enemy is the same, but they're playing a part in a completely different, unrelated story/serie of events. There are some references to Desperation (or Desperation has some references to The Regulators). I was told it was important to read Desperation first, but after a long internet search I found out that it doesn't really matter which one you read first as there is no continuity at all in storyline or characters.
Desperation is a true King novel. He takes his time showing you who the characters are, where they came from and their situation now. The Regulators is more action packed, it has a higher pace. To me that doesn't make much of a difference, but I can imagine for some people it definitely will.
