I just read this book for the second time (the first time was thirty years ago) and enjoyed it even while knowing who the culprit was. Agatha Christie isn't to everyone's taste -- she is much more interested in plot plot plot than character development, and even I find Poirot to be little more than a collection of irritating quirks -- but if you are  willing to go with it her books can be relatively breezy diversions for a weekend. The puzzle presented in this book is interesting, the solution is satisfying (and so notorious that at least one author has published a book offering an alternative), and the spinster sister provides some light amusement.
