When the books opens, North America as we know it has been destroyed and now it is the Nation of Panem. Panem is divided in 12 districts and is ruled y an oppressive government located in the Capitol.

In the Hunger Games the capitol takes one boy and one girl from 12 to 18 from each district as 'tributes'. The tributes will e taken into a place called arena where the will have to fight to death while everything is televised around the country.

In my opinion, this book is brilliant, compelling and exhilarating. I found my self unable to put it down. Everyone I know that read this book found it enthralling. The author does a brilliant job crating a vivid picture of the social and physical environment that prevails the story. However, I would say that I found it extremely intense for anyone younger than 16. There are violent scenes, politics, and also a lot o moral dilemmas faced y the characters.

Overall, The Hunger Games was an excellent and absorbing read. It has romance, adventure, self discovery and even a it o moral lessons. Everyone who enjoys the diverse genre of fiction will love it, as well as those ones who understand conflicting emotions. I certainly recommend this book and I am pretty sure that it will become a cult classic soon.
