DNF'd at 53% actually, but skimmed a lot of the rest and still rating it 3.5 stars, because it is really well done "popcorn fantasy" but it's not for me. Too fast-paced for my taste. I generally read before bed and it's too suspenseful to let me sleep well, haha!
It's also pretty macho. Are there any ugly or at least normal looking women in this book? The talking dog was delightful. Unfortunately, I read that the 9th and final book is a disappointing, frustrating conclusion, too. Overall, read it for fun if you're into light fast paced magic-heavy books. I did like all the magic! Definitely reminded me of Dresden files, as other people say.
