This was better than the other YA novel from Zevin that I read, and I definitely got invested in all the characters and appreciated that we had some interesting world building along with some really nice moments in the story that really makes you stop reading and reflect on your life (some of the things I love about Zevin’s later work). It did spend a hefty amount of time with Liz being depressed and the plot didn’t really move forward in the first part of the book for quite a while. The second half made up for it, but originally I wasn’t the biggest fan of our main character and while it does show how she grows, it was a little hard to overcome the initial impression I had of Liz. Glad I stuck with it, though. Another easy read that I’m happy to have on my bookshelf.
