The Girls at 17 Swann Street by Yara Zgheib

4.0

"There is no tragedy to suffering. It is, just as happiness is. To be present for both, that is life, I think."

The Girls at 17 Swann Street is a book unlike any I have read before. It follows Anna as she navigates her life at a house for women with eating disorders. You follow her many struggles and get to hear her innermost thoughts. Every bite causes panic and doubt and every meal is a hurdle to overcome. It was truly eye-opening especially for such a taboo mental health issue and one that I have never dealt with. I would hesitate to recommend it to anyone that has had these struggles just because I think it would be incredibly triggering. Heartbreaking, eye-opening, and captivating. 4/5🌟
