The Redemption of Callie and Kayden is the second part of their story. You should have read the first book before reading this. **Spoilers ahead** The first book ends with Kayden beating up the guy who raped Callie, getting arrested, his father bailing him out then beating him up, stabbing him and leaving him on the floor of the kitchen. Kayden could't handle everything and cut himself more leaving Callie to find him in a pool of his own blood. Talk about a cliffhanger of an ending.
So in this book we have Kayden shutting down and trying to shut Callie out of his life. He knows he is not good enough for him. After all look at what he did. He cuts himself, he left himself for her to find the way she did. He has issues with his family, he just isn't good enough for her. The only problem? Callie wants him anyways. She has her won issues. She throws up when things get too intense and trying to deal with her rape when she was twelve. They both have a lot to deal with, but together they can get through it.
So Callie, Seth, and Luke all rally in this book to try and pull Kayden back from his hole he seems to be stuck in. They keep trying to reach out to him and help him. They are there for him in whatever way they can be. Kayden is stubborn though, but eventually it all works out.
There is also the fact that Callie has to tell her family what happened on her twelfth birthday. She has to tell them that her brothers best friend, the guy who is like a son to them, what he did to her. They keep getting angry at her for hanging out with Kayden, but she is still not ready to tell them everything. Kayden has a therapist after what happened, but can he tell them everything that has happened to him? Can Callie tell her family what she has been going through? Can they figure this all out together? It was a good read, but like the first book I didn't really connect as much as I had hoped. It was good, just not amazing.
