Great Expectations
by Charles Dickens
Dickens is pretty hit or miss for me in general, and I think this one erred on the side of miss. It's a brilliant novel, with rich characters and storytelling, but it took me too long to get through for me to say that I enjoyed it significantly. That being said, I do think it deserves its place in the literary canon and I did enjoy plenty of elements - the characters for one, and the way the plot tied up. I found it much easier to read the third volume than the first two, perhaps because the first two were a lot of set-up and things moved much faster in the final third.
