Medusa by Jessie Burton

5.0

This was a fascinating retelling of Medusa from a perspective I’ve not read before. It turns the tale on its head, telling of a girl who was pursued by a possessive god, spited by another and essentially banished for reasons that were not her fault. It’s a story of how looks and appearance can be a cage, how the bonds of sisterhood can stretch to be enough for you. It’s about how love should be able to see past what we look like, but often doesn’t. I think this is a retelling all young women should read. It makes us think about what we value and what makes us who we are.
