One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
4.0

It has been some time since I read this book (since I was a naive teenager in fact), though even the memory of it is enough to make me appreciate my life and the country I live in. Before reading it, I had been expecting something more exciting, as I live in an age of Hollywood blockbusters. I may even have been slightly bored during the descriptions of daily life. However, when I came to the last page, I must admit it took my breath away as the reality was brought home to me. It was enough to bring more than a tear to a teenager's eye.
