The last chapter is beautifully written and the story can be weighed by its tragedy and is surprisingly lightened by its mostly-tender romance, but the book is muddled by one blatantly racist sentence, the beautification of alcoholism that includes an attempted normalization of drinking while pregnant , sexism and other issues that I’m surprised that I’ve never seen mentioned before by content creators who recommend his work.
Graphic: Alcoholism, Sexism
Moderate: Racism
