We Are Okay by Nina LaCour

5.0

Before reading we are okay it was on my radar but I didn't really know what it was about. This story discusses many important issues such as death, grief, depression and suicide.

This story was really relatable, real and the LGBTQIA+ rep was effortlessly put into the story which I did not expect at all.

We follow Marin who has run away from her hometown after the death of her grandfather and cutting everyone out from her old life. Unfortunately she couldn't run away from her problems and has to face it head on in the form of her old best friend Mabel.

As the truth of her grandfathers death unearths Marin begins to realise that she doesn't need to be on her own. This story is a true representation of what no matter what we go through we will be okay.
