If there’s one word to define this story, it’s intense.

Body & Soul is the fourth book in the Wayward Sons series, and the way L. Eveland twined it with the third one? I freaking loved it. In the previous book, you’re left totally confused by some of Sheperd’s behaviors that don’t seem to make much sense. We know he has multiple personalities, but he’s also the most reserved character, the one who hides the most secrets. So, when you get his own story, everything starts to fall into place. The dual timelines connect, and that’s when you go, "Ooh, oh!!"😂

Sheperd and Elias are absolutely fascinating. Their chemistry is insane, and since they’ve lived through the same hell, they understand each other in a way no one else could. And now, they have to face that hell all over again. As Elias rediscovers himself and comes back to life, Sheperd has to make some incredibly tough decisions to protect the three families he holds dear: the one he was born into, the one that took him in, and the one he’s chosen with Elias. And Elias isn’t just getting to know Sheperd—he’s also meeting his other parts, each a different individual.

One of the most important is Keres, the system’s guardian, the self-proclaimed monster who keeps them all safe. He’s also the one who displays the strongest emotions and primal instincts when it comes to Elias. 😏

Their relationship is built on High Protocol BDSM, and as someone who has always found this world fascinating, I absolutely loved how it plays a key role in Elias’s healing and recovery. By giving Sheperd permission to be his Dom and guide him, Elias regains the power that’s been stripped from him time and time again. Because if there’s one thing Elias knows, it’s abandonment, betrayal, and abuse. Throughout the story, we see him break over and over again, and each time, all you want to do is wrap him in a blanket and hold him until he falls asleep. 🖤

Understanding, reading, and rooting for Elias has been healing for me. One of my favorite couples in Wayward Sons!
