The Life and Diary of David Brainerd by David Brainerd

5.0

I encourage everyone to read this account of David Brainerd's life compiled by Jonathan Edwards. Personally for myself, I found great comfort in learning firsthand of Brainerd's melancholic disposition, and how quickly he experienced highs and lows, because I can relate to such feelings. However - Brainerd's desire for holiness convicted me to the utmost. His love for the Indians who once resided in my area of NJ was overwhelming - he put his health on the line to present them the gospel daily. Brainerd's life ended with illness, yet I believe the Lord sovereignly allowed this for his sanctification, to make him more like Christ. This will be a book that I will return to, time and time again, to be reminded of a great missionary to the unreached. I am eager to see Brainerd's face in eternity, as he sees Indians that had heard him preach, approach the throne of the Lord with gladness. Read this book. It can be found online in PDF form for free.
