Did not finish book. Stopped at 35%.

Picked this one up after it was longlisted for the women's prize and was not enjoying it at all, even though the premise was interesting and the writing itself was great, I just felt very disconnected from the book as a whole. Then found out it's the third book in a series???? So no wonder i felt this way, and seems to be the case for loads of other people who've given it a go. I might try out the first book in the series some other time and get back round to this eventually bc it does have some cool concepts and I've enjoyed Karen Lord's work before.
