Revelations by Oliver Bowden

4.0

Whilst still bound to recounting the events of the video game in a sadly dry manner, in Revelations Bowden has also found the freedom to begin to break new ground by elaborating the storyline and providing more depth and greater perspective. Whilst this wasn't my favourite of the Ezio games, it is by far the best of the books so far and also covers the emotional epilogue previously seen in the animated short.

Now, as I shed a brief tear and say goodbye to Ezio for what is probably the final time, (too many books and games in my backlog to be replaying and rereading them) I can't help but feel that all future stories in this franchise will only ever be shadows of his saga.

"Don’t cry because it’s ending, smile because it happened." - Ludwig Jacobowski

I do hope that we one day get a sequel to Altaïr's story, as there is so much of his story still untold, or only hinted at.

4/5, not solely based on the quality of this book, but a bonus point for the affection and investment I have in the whole story.
