Is Rape a Crime?: A Memoir, an Investigation, and a Manifesto by Michelle Bowdler

dark emotional reflective sad medium-paced

4.0

“Is rape a crime? This question, though, is a fair one to explore given how rape is treated in our country and around the world—underinvestigated, trivialized, and excused.”

This is one of the most important books I ever read. With very engaging writing styles we follow Michelle as they recall the memories of when they got raped in their own apartment.

Very sad and heartbreaking, because besides that we follow the journey as they seeking for justice in the case. 10 years but there isn’t any clarity about the rapist.

The trauma that Michelle has, they must carry for the rest of their lives. I learn so many things from this book, especially about how the regulation of sexual assault and rape is still very hazy. Government and law enforcement most of the time intimidate victims, especially during the investigation.
There isn’t any assurance that the rapist would be arrested while the victim lives in the loop of fright every day.

Everyone who read this book I believe would learn something, and hopefully, we can be more aware of this case that is sometimes being ignored.
