the book transports you into its world. through the words & descriptions, I felt quite literally in the heart of Caraval. I loved the storyline, the plot, the foreshadowing, the depth and background of every character. I imaged every person full of wonder and every tourist full of awe, every place covered in sparkles and mystery, how the nighttime seemed like a cloak of magic over the town, covering everything with sorcery and secrets.
the wording and scenery, at times, took a bit of deciphering to follow along, but nothing too bad. the pacing was also great; quick-paced scenes felt action-pact & fast, and slow-paced scenes didn’t feel boring or full of filler.
the book kept me entertained and invested until the very end. the plot-twist made sense & the ending left me curious, but I also like that I don’t have to read the second book in order to tie any loose ends.
I highlighted & sticky-noted so much in this book: my favorite scenes, descriptions, quotes, foreshadowing, questions, conclusions, explanations, etc. just all of it. I’m happy I read it & definitely recommend if you wish to be swept away on a magical adventure of love, magic, and mystery.
