How to Survive America: A Prescription by D.L. Hughley, Doug Moe

challenging emotional informative medium-paced
This is my second DL Hughley book. My first was "How Not to get Shot." The tone of each book is almost exactly the same. Hughley delivers hard-hitting, blunt information with sarcasm and wit. His statements are backed by specific stories and facts. The books are obviously well-researched.

This book was not written for me. I am a young white woman, and this book specifically addresses Black people in America, especially Black men. This being said, I believe that these books are valuable for everyone to read. I am unable to remark on how the sarcasm and humor hits for people who face these realities every day. If you have read and liked Hughley's other work, you will probably enjoy this one, as well.

I highly recommend the audiobook, which isn't very long. Hughley narrates it himself, and I think that hearing his voice narrating a book that has such a distinctive authorial tone makes the experience of reading/listening extremely vivid.

***Note: I do not give star ratings to most memoirs and some other nonfiction work.
