The Weekend by Peter Cameron

3.0

Lyle hasn't seen his friends John and Marian for awhile and decides to take a trip and visit them for the weekend. The weekend he visits is the anniversary of the death of Tony who was John's brother as well as Lyle's lover. Lyle now has a new lover in his life which is Robert and decides to take him along for the weekend so he can also meet his friends.

John and Marian have a lovely home in the country and are very pleased to see Lyle once he arrives. Although they are a bit surprised about Robert as Lyle had not told them that he had met someone else. They all seem to get along during the weekend and share the thoughts and memories from over the previous years. Marian is quite pleasant towards Robert although there is something she just doesn't like about him and is not sure what it is. She does ask Lyle many questions about Robert and he can sense she is not keen on him. But he does assure him that they are happy together and they get along well together which is all she really wants for Lyle.

This is a lovely well written book about love, relationships, friends and grief. I quite enjoyed this book and I hope many others will too.
