I enjoyed this book overall but there were a few issues I had with it. Namely: why does it have to have the same characters as The Great Gatsby? It's a completely different plot; in fact, it's set several years after Gatsby takes place and suggests that the full events of the original novel never took place, considering the fact that Jay Gatsby is still living. Not only that, but although the characters' overarching actions match what they might do in the original novel, there are some parts that just seem impossible - namely, the Buchanans (both of them) being friends with Jay and spending weeks at a time at his house.
The story is good and intriguing, but because it has characters from another book in it, it almost reads like fanfic. It's also supposed to be some big commentary on class, but I think it kind of misses the point - this is barely touched on until the end, and I don't think it's done so in a manner that actually provokes thought.
