“Would my soul remember him?” - Louise Le Blanc, Serpent and Dove

A witch and a witch hunter, through (an unrealistic) series of events end up forced into marriage. Louise and Reid are on opposites sides of a war between witches and hunters. Only Reid doesn’t know he’s now married to a witch. And Louise isn’t careful she’ll end up on the stake. But that’s the least of her worries.

The beginning of this book was a little confusing. This was obviously a fantasy world, but based off reality. And for the life of me I could not figure out if they were supposed to be in France or Italy. Maybe it was some weird hybrid of both idk. And then the whole series of events leading up to them getting married was a little unrealistic and probably could have been done in a different way.

THE MAGIC SYSTEM in this was so good! It’s now one of my favorites. It was unlike anything I’ve seen before. But I have to say that a lot of the magic was left unexplained. I’m just going to hope it’ll be more fleshed out in the next book.

The romance. Ahhh. I ship it. Although, I do not like Reid at all, I can see how Louise falls for him. And I do love seeing them together. But I’m sorry lol just because he’s all like, “I took an oath to protect you so that’s what I’m going to do” doesn’t mean he’s a good person. He really just sucks for 90% of the book. But! Like all of the characters in this book, he felt real. And I loved everyone else so much! I wanted to be friends with them all. Especially Ansel. He is definitely superior to Reid.

Overall I would absolutely recommend this book! Especially if you are a fan of the enemies to lovers trope.
