Delirium by Lauren Oliver

1.0

I was really excited to read this book, the concept sounded really interesting, but it just sort of fell flat for me.

I don’t really know what it was, and I’m the kind of person who always finishes books, but I didn’t get past page 30 with this one. I had no real desire to keep reading. There was just nothing making me turn the pages.

I’m not sure how well thought out the world-building was, because there a lot of things that I just couldn’t suspend belief for. The character dynamics that I saw also didn’t make a lot of sense for the world that they are in.

It’s really a shame. I love dystopian books—it’s the genre I write in—but I just couldn’t get into this one! I’ve only read one other book by Oliver, Before I Fall, and I did love that one.

I might give it another try in the future, maybe it gets better, but for now I’m pretty unhappy with it.
