I truly love this story. I haven't read anything else like this. I can't attest to how common these themes are in Japanese art, only that it's not a thing I've seen before. Because of the length it's more poetry than a short story. I'm not going to act like it's the greatest thing ever written, but it doesn't have to be. It means a lot to me.

This is not a happy story. It doesn't end happily. But it's realistic. I've heard this described as 'Urban Fantasy' which I disagree with. The single fantasy element is a metaphor. Suicide drives people to it, just like Thanatos does. Ending your life is a thing that some people focus on or even romanticize because they don't feel like they have anything else to live for. If you want to take it very literally, maybe the 'two' protagonists are experiencing psychosis. I don't know.

I don't feel like writing anything else.
