The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston

5.0

I don't think I have ever shed more tears on a book before ( I actually might have I just don't remember). Point is, this book had everything, EVERYTHING you could ask for and more. I'm still super overwhelmed I don't think I can form the words to describe my reading experience. I finished in 3 days ,which is a crazy record for right now me - middle school me would be in shame- and that only explains how good it is. As I said before I went in without any expectations, like I knew it was good, I heard things about it, but it wasn't a book I was crazy pumped about. But it exceeded all of my expectations.

It follows Florence, who is a very well alive ghostwriter for a super famous romance author, and she can see ghosts (spooky I know), and she's also very much behind the deadline on finishing her book and is pretty much fucked to say the least. And Benji, who is her almost ghostly editor that is NOT going to give her a deadline extension by any means. I'm not going to elaborate about the storyline and what happens because I don't feel like it. Read it if you're curious.

This book reminded me so much of " et si c'était vrai" by Mark levy, or you might know the film adaptation "just like heaven" starring Reese Whiterspoon and Marc Ruffalo. That book is so dear to me I read it when I was 15 or 16 I don't remember and it instantly became one of my faves, and thanks to miss Ashley, I got to revive all the crazy range of emotions I once felt with the Marc levy book. Honestly drop everything right now and read both!!
