From the atmospheric world-building, and compellingly eccentric characters we meet, to our messy, flawed and naive protagonist, desperate to be loved. Jordan Lynde has woven a whimsically steamy, Dark Fantasy Romance that I really enjoyed.

Having heard about its Labyrinth meets Beauty and The Beast-style premise I knew I needed to read this one. And I’m so glad I did as I found it a rather absorbing read.

Though it took me a while to warm up to our FMC, Nell. As her naivety and tolerance (of the people who are the most awful to her) did kind of irk me at first. But after meeting the sinfully addictive (and morally grey), Enver, and beginning her emotional journey to self love, self discovery and empowerment—she really began to grow on me.

Especially when it came to the unique, emotion based obstacles she tirelessly makes her way through. And which ultimately help to unravel the root of her own complex feelings.

But for me personally, Enver was the biggest draw (what can I say, I’m a sucker for a morally grey MMC) and I really enjoyed watching him overcome his own internal struggles the further along in the story we got.

At 530-ish pages, this isn’t a small book by any means. But I did finish it in three days, so can attest it’s pretty addictive. Though I do have to mention, there were a few scenes (and dialogue) which felt a little repetitive, however the spicy scenes (which were impressively detailed and very blush worthy) did more make up for it in my opinion.

Overall, an enjoyable and entertaining read. But as this is a Dark Romance I do suggest checking the TWs before picking it up.

Also, thanks to HQ stories for the finished copy.
