First one was garbage, this one was just kinda bad. The prose isn't nearly as distracting as the last one, but it's still not great.
We're lead to believe the main guy is total badass who can take on 10 lizardmen at once, but he gets knocked out and captured 4 or 5 times in the course of 2 days. He also gets duped by 3 different characters in something like 9 double crosses. He quips more often than multiple Joss Whedon characters combined. One third of the page count is comprised of an appendix with a whole bunch of ancillary gobbledygook. I appreciate it's not sledgehammered into the main narrative, as if often the case with most terrible fantasy books, but I won't waste my time on it because life is too short.
