The Last Thing to Burn by Will Dean

2.0

My Rating System 2.5⭐️⭐️ (rounded down to 2) ticked very few boxes BARELY THERE!!

Jane (but that is not my name) is being held captive on a remote farm in the United Kingdom. A country that is unfamiliar, with dreams that were sold to her that are so far out of reach they seem not to exist.

Jane (but that is not my name, what is my name again…) has been held against her will for seven long years, married (not married, captive) to Lenn. She has a very specific set of chores, cooking regime and nightly routine of terror, that is never ending.

Jane (it’s been so long since someone said my real name) is now forced to decide if she is willing to risk it all to save her unborn child (my child, not his) and the latest victim who is being held in the cellar.

How can she possibly save everyone when she is injured, broken and watched 24/7…

How… I hear you say can this be 2.5 stars it sounds AMAZING… yes it did sound amazing!! It was a slow burn but I was willing to wait for it. I was enjoying the writing and the build up… However, the build up lasts for 85% of the book. That is a long time to read what is mostly the same thing page in and page out.
