I'm really on the fence about this book. I liked it, but it could've been a lot better in my opinion. The book is a retelling of the twelve dancing princesses and how they find a magic place to dance while their castle is in mourning. I really enjoyed the author's writing style, as well as most of the characters. I didn't like the main character Azalea, until the end when she finally showed some more backbone and fought for her family. I liked the family dynamics of it as well. The other sisters besides Azalea were cute and charming. But my issue with this book is that nothing really happened. Sure the book took course over a year, so things did happen, but not enough to keep me interested. All that really happened was that the girls kept going to dance and they kept have male visitors hoping to catch Azalea's eye. It wasn't until the end that it got exciting. That was where the real battle against magic happened, which I enjoyed. I just wished there was more of it in the middle, which was a hassle for me to get through. I think if there was a bit more romance and a bit more action towards the middle of the book, i would've liked it a lot more.
