Gold – Plated Prisoners Series #5

After the emotional wreckage of Glow, Gold throws us straight into Annwyn where Auren finally begins to uncover who she really is and it was such a powerful shift. I loved seeing her stand strong with the rebels while Slade burned the world down to find her, destroying everything and everyone who ever hurt her. His unwavering devotion continues to be one of my favourite parts of this series.

One line that completely shattered me:
“If there is ever a choice between her or the world, it’s going to be her.”
That is Slade in a sentence fierce, loyal, and utterly consumed by his love for Auren.

This book introduced some incredible new characters, and Emonie absolutely stole the spotlight for me. Her light, her strength it just jumps off the page. We also get more of Oserik, and his pain and loyalty made me tear up more than once. I wasn’t expecting to feel so much for him.

And… Queen Malina I know I’ve hated her before (with good reason), but I’m starting to see glimmers of something deeper. Her arc is becoming one of the most intriguing, and I’m actually excited to see where she goes next.

I know some readers might be disappointed that the main couple isn’t together in this one, but I honestly think it’s going to make their reunion that much more impactful. The tension and longing between them build so well and I’ll admit, there was definitely some spark between Malina and Dommik

I gave this one 4 ⭐️ not the most intense of the series, but still emotionally rich and well worth the read. Spice rating is 0 🌶️ since the MCs are apart, but the emotional intimacy and tension are still very much there.

This series continues to impress me, and I highly recommend sticking with it especially now as we head into the final book. I have a feeling it’s going to be unforgettable.

Happy reading, everyone! 💜📚
