One for the Money

I'm a bit disappointed that I did not like this book as much as I had expected to based on it's high ratings and popularity. However, it was an enjoyable read - just not as amazing as I had hoped.
Getting onto the story - the heroine, Stephanie Plum, was fairly likeable. I would have to wait and see how she develops as a bounty hunter, but I felt like she acted a bit too ditzy in this book. It's not exactly every day that a regular girl, no matter how desperate of a financial situation she is in, is going to just pick up and decide to be a bounty hunter. And considering how weak she acts sometimes, it is not believable at all that she was still able to continue doing her job after all those incidents with Ramirez.
Plot wise, it was average. There are plenty of books like this these days, and there isn't anything that makes this book unique. But I was surprised by the age of this book - it was written in 1994 but it reads like it was written in the 2000s.
I'll definitely continue this series to see how things go - hopefully the characters will develop and mature.
