Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard
3.0

I do have some interests in Europe’s history and art, though I don’t even study it in school. I knew about Dante’s Inferno first from Dan Brown’s book Inferno and I was intrigued. So when I found this book, I immediately wanted to read it, but since I wasn’t a fan of erotica at that time, I wait. But let me tell you, this book is not an erotica novel, at all. If you compare this with Crossfire or FsoG, this book has nothing erotic, maybe just one moment or two.
I may say that this book is dark enough for those who know about The Divine Comedy. I myself don’t know much but enough to understand when the author uses Dante & Beatrice’s story in this book.
I think this book is relatively slow, it drags the story and I need four days to finish it (even I just need three days to finish Dan Brown’s Inferno which is more complicated). But I like how the author describes the places, I always fond of beautiful places, especially in Europe.
Actually the story is common, two lovers who have dark secrets and unable to forgive themshelves. And I don’t really like Julia, she seems so weak, too shy and blush easily, just not my favorite type of heroine. I don’t really see the problems here, like I said, it just too slow, like, you can erase hundred pages and you still know the story. But I give it 3 stars since I like the idea of this book to combine dark poetry with dark love story.
