A strong sequel to Sword Catcher, The Ragpicker King pulls us deeper into the intrigue of Castellane. After a palace massacre, Kel—ever loyal, ever conflicted—is pulled into the city’s criminal underworld and into the orbit of the elusive Ragpicker King. At the same time, Lin must deal with the fallout of claiming divine power, while navigating her role as a healer, an outsider, and a woman in love.

This book shines in its characters. Kel’s internal struggle is gripping, Lin’s arc is full of moral tension, and even Conor starts to evolve in unexpected ways. There’s political tension, emotional stakes, and a growing sense of danger that builds beautifully toward a jaw-dropping ending.

Christian Coulson and Fiona Hardingham elevate the story with stellar narration—expressive, immersive, and full of heart. Character-driven, dramatic, and richly told. Fantasy lovers will be hooked.
