I had very mixed feelings on this book. It hits hard on the non-con. Which I figured going into it, but it’s through the whole book basically and while non-con doesn’t inherently bother me in dark romance as a relationship develops and feelings start coming into play. That vibe was not vibing for me between Sierra, Nikolai, Yuri and Konstantin. You get these small hints and they do start treating her better but for me, the commitment was not there for what unfolded at the end. The choice Sierra ends up making? The relationship was not developed enough for that loyalty IMO. There’s also pregnancy pressure, as in you don’t have a choice, which unfortunately I think just triggered me the wrong way with our current political climate which of course is no fault of the author. I know this is a series for these characters and I have a feeling I’d like the next book better as I think their relationships are going to develop a lot more, especially given the cliff hanger ending but unfortunately, this first book was not for me. It would be hard to redeem these guys.
