I really want to give this a 5, and as with There There, Orange’s writing is nothing short of a fucking work of art. But I think I was a little too jarred/split by the difference of timelines. Honestly, particularly given the beauty of Orange’s prose, I think I would’ve preferred two books, one being an expansion of the historical story and one an expansion of the family. But genuinely so wildly amazing.
