It took me two weeks to finish this book--partly because I was busy with other things, and partly because this book was deep and slow-going. My student from Inner Mongolia gave me this book to read--and I was glad to get a glimpse into the world of the Grassland Mongolians. This book is much more than about wolves--but about the human spirit, human connectivity to nature, and human destruction. I would say that this is one of the best books I've ever read--but I don't know if I would read it twice. It's too sad to think of people have destroyed millenniums of nature in such a short period of time.
