A Curse in Ash by Julie Zantopoulos

4.0

Great effort for a debut novel! Good story. With a little polishing, this author has a bright career ahead.

• The story jumped from one scene to another without fully closing out the scene. The characters would be in the bathroom doing whatever they were doing at the time, but before wrapping up that scene all of a sudden they were in a bakery. I had to reread multiple places in the book to ensure I didn't miss anything.

• Using "Goddess" instead of "God" was annoying. The most feminine man I know would not use Goddess in place of God, so why would the hunky main characters use it?

• The relationship between the three principal characters is complete fantasy. I kept thinking, "Yeah, right." A girl can dream, I guess.

• Not the author's fault, several three-letter words were not correctly printed. was=as, the=he, she=he, etc.
