Poor Miss Marple!  Practically confined to her house and hovered over by a well-meaning but aggravatingly overbearting live-in "nurse" when there is murder afoot!  Being Miss Marple, though, such a trifle does not get in the way of her keen mind or astute observations.  It also helps that young Craddock knows to bring information to the feet of his wise Aunt Jane and Dolly Bantry was Johnny On The Spot for this mystery.  A wonderful story with lots of suspects and plenty of red herrings and some aggravating personalities.  It kept me guessing and I am not ashamed in the least to say I did not see the end coming until Miss Marple laid it out so neatly.  I honestly thought it was going to be something else!  This book also had one of the more heartbreaking side casualties in the end.  While Christie did not dwell on him, her expert touch made me ache for him and his future suffering.

I think Miss Marple did, too.  She was almost Wimsey-ian in her final words and what she hinted/held back.
