The Forbidden Wolf King
by Leia Stone
The first thing that I noticed when starting this book was that the wolf dynamic was very similar to that in Twilight. That they can talk through their minds in wolf form paired with the fact that the alpha has black fur… also one of the wolf’s has the last name Clearwater???
The action was pretty good and solid for the first part of the book and the tension between the main characters was starting to be good, but it fell off entirely once Axil explained why he left Zara.
Then the final battle was just so anticlimactic for something that was built up over four books. No one really got hurt or in any immediate danger and the stakes just didn’t feel really high, it felt like they were going to win no matter what happened. And the way that they killed the Nightfall Queen was disappointing. I get that it was full circle for Raife to poison her, but it just fell flat in my opinion.
Overall, this is a series I am glad to be finished with and I can say it is something that I definitely will not be rereading or recommending to anyone, ever.
