Sometimes judging a book by its cover pays off… I really didn’t know much about this book but I LOVED it. The concept of being able to hear something that your family can’t is quite scary and I felt bad for Claire despite not finding her likeable. The writing was vivid and I could feel her frustration at not being believed. She was an interesting character and I liked following her journey as things spiralled out of control. I can understand why she acted like she did but she wasn’t justified in her actions. I found the support group fascinating - I love seeing how different people deal with things and I loved studying each character. It got weirder and crazier than I expected which I loved. It was addictive watching the group - I couldn’t look away from the strange, almost creepy things they did. The ending was shocking and intense. I loved the way the book built up the tension right up until the explosive ending. I am now paranoid that I can hear The Hum…
