If you want to read a slow moving book about a horrifyingly bad mother and selfish woman who blames it all on her "secret", then read this book. When the secret is finally revealed, I actually put the book down and walked away because it was ridiculous. Her children are not much better and I'm not even sure who the middle one was since she's barely even mentioned in the book - so why bother with having the character? And the daughter-in-law? Did she have a drinking problem? Going through a mid-life crisis? I don't understand her behavior at all. One minute she's happy in her marriage - then next she's dancing with strangers in bars and kissing people by port-a-johns? I get it - the cracks in the perfect family but the shift was extreme. Ugh - this book - I struggled to finish because I wanted to find out the "BIG SECRET" and the secret didn't match the build up.
